Evil Dead II

Logged by JakeTheSnakeYuh ★★★★½

1987 · 1h 24m · dir. Sam Raimi

“It's in there...” “We'll all go in together.” “Hell no! You're the curious one!” Crazy that this movie is barely an hour and a half. The beginning feels pretty fast, but after that it really feels longer. Probably because so much happens. But it never feels like it’s too much or overstaying it’s welcome. So wonderfully batshit insane, with maybe the most perfect split of comedy and horror I’ve ever seen. All the comedy bits hit, and all the horror parts were creatively creepy and gross. Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are legitimately one of the best actor/director duos ever. Any other movie would have you second guessing and questioning stuff, but Bruce sells and delivers Sam’s insane ideas so well that you just roll with it and accept it without a second thought, it’s incredible. And 99% of it all is just in one house, with no more than 5 people involved at any time. Making so much out of that little is a skill any director worth a damn should aspire to achieve. “In 1300 AD they called this man the uh, 'hero from the sky'. He was prophesied to have destroyed the evil.” “He didn't do a very good job...“ Listen to Unconventional Flicks (https://open.spotify.com/episode/3uNMqB0jZeMqpxfWT7NdXk?si=6fEab4joQ5KrOWhC-mjHLQ)
