The Fantastic 4: First Steps

“Stop calling her sexy!” It’s been very nice and refreshing seeing MCU stuff where there’s actually characters interacting and doing things. Character interactions in this movie were the best part. The pacing is a bit all over the place, and they crammed quite a lot in there, but it never felt like it was dragging too much. Not as much action as you’d usually expect, but what we did get was pretty sweet. Aesthetics and world building was very enjoyable. I think The Thing will be able to shine more when he fights someone/something he can actually punch, and I’d like to see them get weirder with Reed’s powers. There’s no shortage of borderline unsettling comic frames you could use as inspiration. I’m still very cautiously optimistic about Doomsday. You’ve got a good cast of characters set up now, it’s got potential. Final note: as soon as it ended, my friend looked at me and said ‘that was basically The Incredibles’. I can’t say that he’s wrong. “Okay… okay!”
