Several friends travel to Sweden to study as anthropologists a summer festival that is held every ninety years in the remote hometown of one of them. What begins as a dream vacation in a place where the sun never sets, gradually turns into a dark nightmare as the mysterious inhabitants invite them to participate in their disturbing festive activities.

jul 26, 2025““What time is it?” “It’s 9pm.” “What do you mean? That can’t be right, the sky is blue!” While I am someone who does not suffer from any kind of anxiety or panic inducing things, this movie had be thinking otherwise. Deeply unsettling the entire way through, a near constant fear and anticipation, knowing that something fucked up and bad is gonna happen and just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And once it does, it just continues to do so again and again. Uncomfortable scenes back to back, unrelenting to make you feel as wigged out as possible. It’s assisted massively with seemingly endless panning shots, but also unnerving stationary ones for a lot longer than you expect, and bits of editing where things out of focus started to morph and sway. A movie that makes sure you don’t feel well once it ends, and it is succeeds in droves. I think I fear Sweden now. “Somebody should tell those girls they're *walkin'* stupid.” Listen to Unconventional Flicks (https://open.spotify.com/episode/5y9XJWtsHZxwwESk1wBrjd?si=jzgjxEyJR9-IqTzbleT04g)”
