““Oh my God Was that a ninja?” “More like a non-ja. Terrible what passes for a ninja these days” I had very little memory of this movie but I knew I’d seen it ages ago. I remembered the piranhas, the bowl at the end, and that woman with the gem on her tongue (which I think was an awakening for me in some fashion). Anyways, man this movie is nuts. Did Speed Racer, a Japanese cartoon from the 60s, *need* to have a gritty and dramatic but also neon colored and action packed live action movie? No. But god dammit, the Wachowskis can do literally anything they want and nail it. They are insane. Obviously everyone has been talking this movie up some more recently, and it really does stand out. Why don’t movies look like this anymore?!?!? Come on now. We gotta get back to this. “Get that weak shit off my track!””
