In late-90s suburbia, a lonely teenager meets a girl at school who introduces him to a mysterious late-night T.V. show — a vision of a supernatural world pulsing beneath their own. As time goes on, however, questions begin to arise about why the show sometimes seems more real than their own lives. In the pale glow of the television, their view of reality begins to crack.

“I think that a lot of this film is a “left to interpretation” a mixture of identity, gender and derealisation. It might be one I watch again to see if I can see more hints throughout But.. I’m just not great at seeing what the writers are trying to guide me to”

“This another one of those incredibly made and poignant movies that has definitely been talked about in much more eloquent and meaningful words. Many points in this are of things I can never fully grasp. But the feelings of denied self acceptance and expression, the dissociation, the passage of time in a unsatisfying life, the escapism through something meaningful from a better time, it’s all so real and beautifully tragic. The fact that, at times, it’s hard to tell what’s even real only adds to it. Like I said, those with more poignant words and real, lived experiences that they can relate this movie with can certainly go into more true depth with this. All I know is that this is something truly unique and special, and I’m glad it exists for those who truly need it.”
